Welcome to the Ship Managers Association of the Philippines (SMAP), the first ship management-focused organization in the country. Our association comprises both domestic and international ship management companies based locally. We are committed to promoting excellence in the technical ship management industry.
First and foremost, we are the membership committee of the Ship Managers Association of the Philippines, also known as SMAP. As mentioned in the previous presentation about the introduction of SMAP, again, we are very excited to inform everybody that the technical ship management companies in the Philippines, including those technically shipping-related companies, created this association in 2018 and have it registered with and approved by SCC in 2019. Take note that SMAP is the first ship management-focused organization in the Philippines comprising both domestic and international ship management companies based locally.
SMAP was formed by the following founding members who saw and realized the need for this organization in the Philippines:
Magsaysay MOL Shipmanagement Inc., Philippine Transmarine Carriers Inc., Fairmont Shipping, Seashore Shipmanagement, MMS Bulk Shipmanagement (Philippines) Inc. formerly POSM, Orophil Shipmanagement Corp, TDG Ship Management, AdMarTechs enterprise, Magsaysay ShipManagement, Sandigan Ship Services Inc., Great Swiss Shipping Corp.. SMAP is a non-stock and non-profit organization and is being established with the following mission:
Unite, link, and provide a forum for discussion on matters of common interest and be the common voice of ship managers in the national and international forums and regulators. Encourage the highest standards of ship management and ship operations through innovation, creativity, and knowledge sharing. Advocate efficiency, quality, and ethics in the ship management business. Share knowledge, new ideas, and updates on national and international maritime laws, rules, and regulations about safety, security, and environmental concerns. Assist and promote the professional connectivity of the marine and technical practitioners in the industry. Promote the freedom of expressing new ideas, and improve and update the knowledge of each member. We are encouraging you and your esteemed company to join S.M.A.P. to further strengthen this industry and enjoy the benefits of a strong ship management organization in the Philippines. There are four membership categories that a company may consider which are: regular or full members or ship managers of any number, type, and size of vessels, either domestic or international trading, holding a valid document of compliance or DOC from a recognized flag state and/or recognized organization and whose business address is duly.
